As manager of a bookshop, I wanted at least one book to represent the current situation of fashion editing and publishing. I like this book very much, but I also think it portrays in an almost parodic way all the elements which, for better or for worse, have invaded fashion in our days: an excessive self-consciousness, a quasi-morbid artistic will, an intrinsic guilt for fashion’s frivolity towards the great ills of today’s world (climatic, socioeconomical, identitarian). Fashion today looks at itself and portrays itself from a crushing point of view which has little to do with fashion and a lot to do with a series of factors that seem to leave no room for manoeuvre. This book, which is a very good book, is a perfect example of all of this. It is pure topicality.
